27th Ziegfeld Club Ball Slated for Waldorf Tonight
November 20, 1964
The 27th annual Ziegfeld Club Ball will be held tonight at the Jade Suite of the Waldorf-Astoria. Proceeds from the dinner dance will go toward continuing the club's program of aid to needy actresses. Sammy Davis will preside at an entertainment program that will include Norma Terris, Dennis King, Hal Leroy, Rick Bennett and Kathy Dunn.
A highlight of the evening will be the crowning of Barbra Streisand as “Miss Ziegfeld of 1965.” The actress, who is starred in Funny Girl, won the title in the public balloting as “the girl who most personifies the qualities which Florenz Ziegfeld looked for in choosing a performer.” In Funny Girl, Miss Streisand portrays the late Fanny Brice. Bert Hirsch and his orchestra is supplying the music for the ball.
