George Benson and Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand presented the “Record of the Year” award to George Benson for his song “This Masquerade” (and its producer, Tommy LiPuma).

Before she gave out the award, Barbra said: “No matter what I've done, I feel that my roots are in the music business. I'm very proud to be part of an industry where the sheer talent is so overwhelming. And I think that it's probably the reason that there's genuine respect from one artist to another.”

The Dress:

Autioned in 2004, the full length gown and cape was made of silver and black metal mesh.

Perhaps in homage to the scene in A Star is Born in which her character won a Grammy Award (photo below with Tony Orlando), Barbra wore the same ensemble to the real 1977 Grammy Awards!

This custom made piece was designed by Barbra out of several shawls.
