About the Single
“Somewhere” is a short version edited from the album track.
At the Grammy Awards, “Somewhere” and producer and arranger David Foster won the Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocal award.
Streisand’s publicists released a statement that all proceeds from the “Somewhere” single would go to PRO-Peace and AMFAR (the American Foundation for AIDS research). Streisand said, “[Somewhere’s] lyrics reflect the life-affirming attitude we must have in order to prevent a nuclear war as well as the destruction of human life from AIDS.”
