To start off what is planned to be an on-going series of auctions, Star Wares are offering an exclusive collection of some of the finest items in their inventory directly from the home of Barbra Streisand. The Barbra Streisand personal collection of career memorabilia, antiques and personal items was acquired when Julien Auctions stopped their Ebay auctions. Amongst the offerings are career items and antiques never offered for sale prior to this. The items and lots have been selected to sell at competitive live auction prices, though several lots are prime for smaller budgets. Though Star Wares plans to continue the daily ebay sales of Barbra Streisand's items after this, much of that will depend on the success of this auction. Fans are encouraged to bid competitively at this auction, as this may be one of the last times exclusive career memorabilia will be offered.
All monies from Barbra Streisand's auctions through Star Wares goes to Streisand's foundation, and purchase prices, with receipts are considered contributions to the foundation. The Streisand Foundation supports after school programs for disadvantaged children, breast cancer, civil rights organizations and environmental causes.
Each item will come with a certificate of authenticity stating that the purchase is from The Collection of Barbra Streisand to benefit "The Streisand Foundation." Each certificate will feature a picture of the item purchased and the certificate will be signed by Barbra Streisand and by Marcia Tysseling of Star Wares Collectibles.
The auction will close Sunday Nov. 20. As long as payments are received within two weeks of auction close, Star Wares can guarantee delivery for Christmas 2005.
Here is a bit more info for everyone:
- The items will go up this Thursday, Nov. 10 during the day.
- The items can be viewed on ebay.
- The procedure for bidding for LIVE EBAY auctions requires everyone to register for the auction. After a short wait for approval, people can start bidding at anytime during the 10 days prior to the auction. The auction can then be viewed Sunday Nov. 20 "LIVE" as the last bids come in and the items close.
Woolsey Ackerman of Star Wares has put together "lots" consisting of numerous items of personal wardrobe, some stunning antiques and deco items, and career-oriented wigs for YENTL, WAY WE WERE, FOR PETE'S SAKE, ALL NIGHT LONG and early hair items likely from FUNNY GIRL. There are set models for NUTS and PRINCE OF TIDES, which Streisand used for her directing. There are sets of original approval art for several albums, set decor from THE CONCERT and of great interest, three hats from ON A CLEAR DAY, including the hat Barbra wears at the end of the film, singing the title song. Items all have starting bid prices. They range between $50.00 and $1000.00.
